Bambuddy is proudly independent: one developer, no investors, funded by donations. That's part of its charm, and it's also the trade-off. When a farm or a classroom depends on its software, someone has to be accountable for security, uptime and compliance, and for the project simply still being here in a few years.

SimplyPrint is a small, self-funded team that's been building and running print-farm software since 2020. We're bootstrapped, not venture-backed (it started in a basement, not a boardroom), but it's a real, sustaining business, with a roadmap and people whose full-time job it is to keep it working.
Bambuddy
A single developer, funded by GitHub Sponsors and Ko-fi donations, on a pre-1.0 release. In its own words it has "no VC, no acquisition, no enterprise overlord, just a community", which is admirable, and also means the whole project rests on one person's time, focus and finances.

We're a school, can we use Bambuddy?

You can self-host it, but Bambuddy has no education plan or classroom features, and no Data Processing Agreement or vendor accountability, which most institutions' IT and procurement require. Does Bambuddy do continuous (lights-out) printing like AutoPrint?

Can Bambuddy slice in the browser?

Only headlessly.
